Solar Activity and its Global and Spiritual Implications

The sun has essentially been doing nothing. And it makes the news.
Because our sun tends to have fairly regular cycles of sunspots (dark regions on the sun that indicate intense magnetic activity), whenever it deviates from normal it can adversely affect some of our earthly systems. Solar storms with extremely powerful sunspot activity can disrupt our satellites and electrical systems.
But lately, the sun has been unusually quiet with a noticeable lack of more regular sunspot activity since 2007, when it started a new 11-year cycle. The sun is the quietest — and dimmest — it's been in 100 years. Scientists have been stumped by this unpredictable behavior, but it may recently be explained by sluggish solar jet streams that flow near its poles beneath the surface, and they now note that sunspots may slowly be increasing.
With this lack of activity and intensity, some scientists question the possibility of a mini-ice age occurring based on similar cycles and weather patterns in the past, such as the Little Ice Age that affected parts of Europe and North America from 1300 to 1850. But because of varying factors that can influence outcomes, they caution against making any predictions.
If the solar depression continues, say solar experts from the University of Southampton in the U.K., its effects on weather patterns are still negligible compared to human-activity-induced greenhouse gases, with current CO2 levels being 50-60 percent above normal.
Researchers at Heliophysics have tracked sunspot activity that dates back four centuries, and they note that significant solar spells have very little impact on climate, if at all. Rather, manmade CO2 has 13 times greater impact on global temperatures than variations in solar activity, according to Ralph Cicerone, president of the National Academy of Sciences and an expert in atmospheric sciences.
Spiritual Implications of Solar Activity
What, then, is the deeper, more spiritual, significance to our sun's latest wild, unpredictable activity and its effects on our planet and human consciousness? It's not just the weather patterns that are changing (even though that's a small part of it), but also the observable shifts in our experiences both individually and collectively. As the solar storms were unusually intense between 1998 and 2004 — sometimes hundreds of sunspots occurring each day — it's interesting to note the tremendous changes we subsequently experienced from this infusion of spiritual energy. A correlation can be made to the acceleration of our spiritual growth and increase in our sun's output, enabling a spiritual realignment which results in revolutionary experiences that tear down our old ways and allow for new ways to be created.
The intensification of solar storms from our previous cycle may be responsible for a huge leap in our growth and subliminally affected us in different ways:
- We are seeing a quantum leap in our technology and ability to communicate with each other (not to mention our increased desire to interconnect and form broad networks that serve us in ways we never imagined), sharing news and new ideas with literally millions of people in a fraction of a second
- We are now learning to work with each other in global groups and teams, collaborating in a virtual fashion with less concern about borders or distance
- There is a greater awareness of natural resources, water, soil, and energy conservation
- We are seeking more earth-based, natural and holistic methods for healing and treatment of the whole self; e.g., acupuncture, yoga, tai chi, meditation, and other ancient Eastern practices that integrate the mind, body and spirit
- People are 'going 'green' with more earth-friendly home products, cars, and buildings
- There have been (and will be more) clear signposts of imminent collapse or significant restructuring of certain constructs of our civilization; e.g., financial institutions and their aberrant practices, indicating the failures of our current systems.
This solar lull we are currently experiencing may be a respite from this bombardment of transformative energy so we can regain our equilibrium and adjust to a new level of being before the next go-round. Due to the intense nature of the past infusion of spiritual energy, however, we are witnessing many who are unable to adapt to such a powerful influence and react in erratic ways through excessive violence and other desperate acts. This growing chasm between those who cling to the old ways and those adapting to the coming times will likely create great challenges along the way.
It is amazing to realize what the sun provides for us and how it influences our physiology and consciousness. As plants visibly 'grow toward the light,' mankind also grows in the light — a vital source of life-giving and life-enhancing energy and power that is our sun, which responds to our stagnations in global consciousness and in turn triggers new cycles of planetary growth.
As evidenced by some of our still faltering social and cultural systems, this inevitable spiritual realignment is not through yet…so get ready for more dramatic growth opportunities in the times to come.
